Using the Paging Facility of the SPS 256k G64 Processor

Abstract:

The Motorola 6809 processor can normally only access 64 kilobytes of memory, since addresses are limited to 16 bits. Of this 16 kilobytes are used by FLEX and the monitor. As Omegasoft Pascal programs on the G64 systems have become more complex, it has been found that their size has become too large for the 48 kilobytes normally available. The SPS paging processor has 256 kilobytes of RAM on the one card, and further memory cards are available (the largest giving 384k). This extra memory is at the moment used only for virtual disk storage and some extra FLEX facilities (the latter only use a few kilobytes); so it was felt highly desirable to make use of this extra memory. This document describes one method of doing this.
