3 years Fixed Term — to commence early 2009

Salary Range: £25,310 – £33,980 per annum
An additional allowance will be payable whilst based at Fermilab

Applications are invited for a Research Fellowship in accelerator science that is part of the fellowship programme established jointly by Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in the USA and Imperial College London in the UK.

The post will be hosted by the High Energy Physics Group in the Blackett Laboratory, Imperial College London and it is expected that the successful applicants will spend approximately half the time in London and the remainder at Fermilab, Batavia, Illinois.  The post is specifically to enhance the Imperial College Group's overall R&D program in Accelerator Science in those areas where there is common ground with the Fermilab Project- X R&D program (http://projectx.fnal.gov/[Open External Link in New Window]).  The emphasis will be HEP accelerator activities towards a future Neutrino Factory.

The appointee will be expected to hold a PhD in accelerator science or experimental particle physics or have an equivalent level of professional qualifications and experience.

The fellow will hold a contract of employment with Imperial College London and so must satisfy UK legal requirements for work in the UK.  In addition, as half the time will be spent at Fermilab, the fellow must also satisfy the necessary US visa regulations.
